Funding & Tax Supports for Families

Families may be eligible for financial assistance or tax credits to help offset the cost of pediatric therapy. Learn more about these Canadian and Nova Scotia programs:

• Jordan’s Principle – Funding for First Nations children to access health, social, and educational services.

• Child Disability Benefit – Monthly federal tax-free benefit for families of eligible children.
  
  
• Medical Expense Tax Credit (METC) – Tax credit for eligible medical and therapy expenses.

Families in Nova Scotia have access to a variety of community resources that offer free programs, family education, and developmental supports. These local organizations provide valuable connections for children and families.



• Chebucto Family Centre – A Halifax-based family resource centre offering free programs, parenting groups, and community supports for families of all backgrounds.
  
  
• Nova Village NS – A community hub providing free programs and services for children, youth, and families up to age 19 across the Halifax region.
  
  
• LEARNINGO – Community, Recreation & Education Society – A Nova Scotia charity providing individualized programs and supports for children and youth on the autism spectrum.
  
  
• Memory Lane Family Place – A non-profit family resource centre in Lower Sackville offering free early-learning programs, home-visiting support, and community services for families.
  
  
• LearnAbility Educational Solutions – A Nova Scotia-based centre offering tutoring and structured literacy programs for children and youth with learning differences.
